The Female Pelvic Health Center in Newtown, Bucks County wants women to know that certain issues are much more common than one might think, and very treatable. Take a look.

Stephanie Molden:
Here at the female pelvic health center, we are a special gynecological practice. Anything from bladder control issues to dropped bladder or dropped uterus, fecal incontinence, pain disorders in the pelvis, a whole myriad of pain disorders that affect women, so stress incontinence involved a specific kind of incontinence there are different reasons why women have trouble controlling their bladder. Specifically with stress incontinence it’s a problem where women lose control of the bladder with a cough, a sneeze, a jump, exercise or laughing. It’s a problem that tends to affect younger women but it can affect older women as well. we try to treat every patient individually depending on their concerns, their age, their health status etcetera. To tailor that treatment is very important, varying from conservative types of treatments more with pelvic floor therapy and strengthening of the pelvic muscles. For women where that is not an issue, or that’s not a good approach for them for whatever reason we can move on to some smaller procedures, and those procedures take often less than 20 minutes.

What’s unique about our center is one we are all female practice, so that often puts our patients more at ease. And we can understand our patients a little bit better. I think because of that. We are one of the few centers, probably across the nation, that does that in our center. So the procedures we do are able to be done right here in the center under minimal anesthesia, actually just local anesthesia for the most part, so patients walk in and walk out within an hour. And a lot of women really like that approach, it’s more feasible for them with their time and their schedules and gets them back to their lives more quickly.
